FEST
The International Film Festival – FEST is a festival held annually in Belgrade since 1971. The first FEST was held from 8 to 16 January 1971 under the slogan “Brave New World” in Dom Sindikata. FEST, as a significant part of the history of Belgrade, has been organized every year since 1971 and we try to support this manifestation by seeing at least one film as a part of our extracurricular activities. On Friday, 4 March, a select group of high school students went to the third day of the Film Festival and watched the film Belfast. Belfast is a semi-autobiographical film showing the life a working-class family and the childhood of their young son during the riots in the late 1960s in the capital of Northern Ireland. The film has received numerous awards, including the award for the best film at the Toronto International Film Festival. The message of the film is hidden in the slogan – NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU GO YOU NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM. The film was shot in black and white, which is reflective of the old ways of shooting films, and which shows the late 1960s in the real light. The students liked the film and showed great interest in art films screened at the FEST.
