Exhibition of Milena Pavlović Barilli’s Paintings
Members of the journalism and linguistics clubs visited the Museum of Contemporary Art and enjoyed an exhibition of paintings by Milena Pavlović Barili. The guide explained that she was not only a painter but also a poet. She lived only 35 years, spending the final part of her life in the USA. She worked in fashion and began creating cover illustrations for fashion magazines, such as Vogue, while in the U.S. Throughout her life, she painted a wide variety of paintings. She often created self-portraits and surrealist drawings where people appeared dreamlike, sometimes missing legs or arms. A recurring figure in her paintings was a Mexican man named Gonzales, with whom she was in love.
