A Visit to the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts

Since the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts opened its doors to visitors, we, Grade 9 students, have always enjoyed the privilege of being self-invited guests. On 20th March 2024, Grade 9 enjoyed the architecture of this largest cultural institution in the country. Our students heard all about the history of this important institution, its organization, and the presidents of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. They visited the Grand Hall, enjoyed the incredible stained-glass windows and paintings, socialized with Branko Ćopić, and heard about his school days. Busts of significant cultural figures are everywhere in the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts – Njegoš, Vuk, Dositej. They visited the memorial rooms of Milutin Milanković and Marko Ristić and felt the atmosphere of the scientist’s and the writer’s study. The libraries of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts are true cultural treasures, and we hope that our students will use them in the future. We also hope that this visit marks the first time for some future academics to explore the space of this institution, aspiring to become worthy members or even presidents in the future.
