Spanish lottery

One of the most famous Spanish lotteries is the Spanish Christmas Lottery. This tradition started way back in 1812. and is considered one of the biggest lotteries in the world. Players need to buy tickets with a 5-digit number, and the tickets are pre-printed, so players cannot choose their own numbers. It often happens that lottery tickets from the same series are paid at one point of sale and all the winners are from the same point. The Spanish Christmas lottery is therefore also a symbol of sharing and spreading love and friendship because prizes are shared among friends and acquaintances.
Combinations of numbers and prizes are sung by children, and the draw is broadcast on most national televisions.
As part of the Spanish classes at PYP, we learned about this tradition and organized our own little Christmas lottery where the children received sweets as prizes and shared them among themselves.
