Middle Years Programme
MYP is a framework that encourages students to create practical connections between what they learn in school and the world in which they live. Through Global Contexts and different approaches to teaching and learning students are encouraged to become internationally minded people.
This programme can last from two to six years, and students who successfully complete it are well prepared to continue their education in the IB Diploma programme. MYP and DP are parts of IB continuum, which starts with Primary Years Programme (PYP), which is present at Ruđer Bošković School since September 2015 (candidate phase).
Here at Ruđer Bošković School, MYP framework will last for six years (for 11 to 16 year old students). At the end of a final year (MYP 5) students produce Personal Project, related to Global Context of their own choice. They inquire, investigate, take actions and evaluate their own work, and their work is presented at the Personal Project Exhibition.
Language of instruction is English, with a support and help for Serbian language, acoording to our Language Policy.
Rudjer Boskovic School inspires learners to become honorable, principled, knowledgeable and caring individuals, capable and willing to make considerable contributions to their local and world-wide communities.
The content of the Middle Years Programme is divided into eight subject groups, so that students are provided a sufficiently broad and balanced education( Language and literature, Language acquisition, Individuals and societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Design, Arts, Physical and health education).
MYP library with reading room is a space where students can learn, solve homework, surf the internet, read printed and digital textbooks, books and magazines. Number of different titles and editions is greater than 11 000.
During the working hours, the librarian is present in order to help students with the selection of literature and with the improvement of learning techniques. The library area is available for work on group projects and personal projects, according to MYP standards. The library is regularly supplied with new selection of print and electronic content, in accordance with students’ and teachers’ needs, as well as with the requirements of the IB program. Some of the books are available in classrooms around the school, so that students can use these sources of knowledge during their MYP classes.
