School Trip – Year II Tuscany
For me personally, and I believe for many other students as well, the school trip is the best time of the school year.
Last year we travelled to Athens with the school, which was wonderful, and this year Italy awaited us.
We arrived at Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade, where we met our teachers and guides, and then waited together for our flight.
At last, we reached our destination, Viareggio.
Viareggio is a small but very beautiful town in Italy where our hotel was located. As soon as we arrived, we took a short walk through the town with our guides and teachers. After the walk, we checked into our rooms and spent the rest of the day taking some time to relax after the trip.
When night fell, we headed to a nearby restaurant for dinner. After dinner, everyone went their own way to hang out in different places around Viareggio—and from then on, every evening was the same.
On our first morning in beautiful Italy, we had breakfast, and we were told to eat well because we had a long drive ahead of us to Florence. After some time, we arrived in Florence, which looked exceptional at first sight, something we would later fully realise. With our guide, we toured the city and visited important sites such as the Baptistery of St. John, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, and others.
After the guided tour, we had some free time. Everyone went to the places they were most interested in, and so did I.
I personally visited music-related sites because that is what interests me. Afterwards, I met up with my friends, and we spent the rest of our free time together before returning to the hotel. Florence left me enchanted. It is truly a stunning city, full of remarkable landmarks and something for everyone. We returned to Viareggio for dinner, spent time together in the evening, and ended the day on a pleasant note once again.
The next morning, we set off for Siena, a small, charming Italian town that is perfect for tourists and lovers of Gothic architecture. We visited places such as the Piazza del Campo, the shell-shaped square where the famous Fountain of Joy is located.
After Siena, we went to a nearby town called San Gimignano, known for its fourteen tall towers that in the fifteenth century symbolised prestige. After that, we ended the day just like the previous two.
Our second-to-last stop of the school trip was Pisa, the city famous for its Leaning Tower, next to which stand the baptistery, the cathedral, and a beautiful harbour.
We spent the final day in Bologna, the oldest university center in Europe, where we saw Neptune’s Fountain, Palazzo Banchi, the university, and the Two Towers. After some free time in Bologna, our school trip came to an end.
For me, and, I believe, for my classmates as well, it was a wonderful experience. We visited beautiful places, and we all had a great time together.
