School Trip to Montenegro
A group of students spent their school trip days in Montenegro, beginning their journey by landing at Tivat Airport. They spent the morning strolling through the streets of Porto Montenegro before heading to Bečići, where they checked in a hotel. The day was spent walking from Bečići to Budva and getting to know the town where they were staying.
The next day, they visited Skadar Lake National Park, exploring it by boat. The untouched nature, rich flora, and diverse wildlife left everyone breathless. It felt as if everyone wanted to soak in as much beauty as possible. Although the park is home to many bird species, including some endangered ones, the students were able to spot only marsh hens, cormorants, herons, and a few eagles. The small town of Virpazar, with fewer than 400 residents, felt like a step back in time with its charming, authentic appearance.
Budva was their next stop. The guide took the group to Mogren Fortress, offering a breathtaking view of the city. The old town, with its stone-paved streets, narrow alleys, and bustling atmosphere as if in peak season, also made a strong impression.
The following day, they visited Old Bar, a settlement that, according to historical records, dates back to the 9th century BCE as an Illyrian city. The fortress remains attest to the city’s former size, and a model at the entrance helped bring its history to life. The city’s rich history, shaped by various peoples, religions, and cultures over centuries, stands as a valuable and significant historical monument. Just 5 km from Old Bar lies New Bar, Montenegro’s large modern port — a striking contrast to the historic town
On the fifth day, the students took a final stroll around Bečići, checked out of the hotel, and headed to the airport. Although a small country, Montenegro offers many sights and experiences, which we hope to enjoy again on another visit.
