School Trip to Malta
The small yet charming island of Malta is the destination where my class finally found the time to relax and rest. We stayed in the lively area of Sliema, where delicious seafood greeted us after exciting walks around Valletta, Mdina, and Golden Bay Beach. Valletta’s colourful streets are set on hilly terrain, creating unique steep roads. Panoramic views awaited around every corner, and we were particularly impressed by the Dingli Cliffs. Mdina, on the other hand, is an ancient, monochromatic city.
The Rotunda of Mosta, or more fittingly named the “Miracle Dome,” is a Catholic church that remained unharmed during the bombing in 1942. St. John’s Co-Cathedral holds an even richer history, depicted on its walls. We were intrigued by the frequent motif of skeletons and the vast amount of gold leaf decorations used. Golden Bay Beach offered fun activities such as jet skiing, various water sports, and, of course, meeting Duško Puška, the adorably named pink parrot.
