School Trip to Kraljevo – Following the Footsteps of Medieval Serbia
From 5th to 9th October, Grade 7 students embarked on an unforgettable journey through time – a school trip to Kraljevo. By visiting the monasteries of Studenica, Žiča, Gradac, and Ljubostinja, the students were transported back to the era of the Nemanjić dynasty, learning about the roots of the Serbian state, faith and spirituality, and culture.
Our journey through history continued in Kruševac, the city of Prince Lazar, where students discovered stories of chivalry, faith, and the selflessness of Serbia during the time of Prince Lazar and the Hrebeljanović family.
In addition to the rich historical itinerary, students also enjoyed the natural beauty of Vrnjačka Banja, where, with smiles, a few souvenirs, and of course some ice cream, they rounded off a day full of memorable experiences.
The school trip was not just a journey into the past; it was also a combination of art, entertainment, and togetherness. We visited a cinema and a theatre, where the play On the Trail deeply moved everyone, and the film School of Magical Animals brought joy and laughter. We were especially delighted by our visit to the National Museum in Kraljevo, where we had the opportunity to see a newly opened exhibition of naïve art and works by artists from Kovačica – a true wealth of colour, imagination, and emotion.
On our way home, we stopped at the Šumarice Memorial Park in Kragujevac. There, while listening to the stories of the tragedies of the Second World War, our students showed maturity, respect, and empathy, attentively listening to the curator and reflecting on the importance of peace and remembrance.
This school trip was much more than just a journey – it was a lesson in history, art, and life. Packed with laughter, learning, and friendships, it’s an experience we’ll remember for a long time.
