Princess Ljubica’s Residence

On 20th March 2024, a select group of students from the first and second year of our High School visited Princess Ljubica’s Residence. Despite the exhibition of the magnificent interior and personal belongings of the Obrenović dynasty, the main reason for our visit was not the permanent display at the residence but rather the painting A Resting Bashi-Bazouk, temporarily displayed there. This painting by the renowned artist Paja Jovanović, depicting a Turkish infantryman, is significant as it is the first of his works from the Orientalist period ever exhibited in Serbia. Our students were captivated by the beauty of this esteemed artwork and recognized the significance of cultural heritage, exemplified by this painting, in upholding our people’s traditions..
