Masterpieces of Serbian art
On Monday, 1st February, we had a virtual guided tour of the National Museum in Belgrade. Our eighth-grade students were introduced to the masterpieces of 19th century Serbian art. The tour focused on the portraits, as a follow-up to the unit the students studied in the previous weeks. The student’s found the works of Katarina Ivanović, Đura Jakšić i Paja Jovanović, inspiring and worth revisiting. The guide helped them understand the ideas and the atmosphere of the Serbian society in the 19th century. The portraits, bearing the ideals of a bygone era, offer the students a chance to reevaluate the need to take yet another selfie. After the virtual tour, we all hope we will have a chance to visit the National Museum soon.
