Maslenica holiday
We celebrated Maslenica holiday with students who attend Russian language in our school. This cheerful holiday celebrates the arrival of spring, but also the departure of winter and has its roots in pagan times, and the tradition is making pancakes. Their round shape and the yellow color symbolizes the sun that is more shining in the spring. Students followed the tradition and honored themselves with the pancakes, and then participated in a quiz on the subject of other traditions that are represented during the celebration Maslenice in Russia. Learning about Russian culture is an important part of learning a language and we are glad we explored and discovered new things about this country and its people.
