Lighthouse
At the beginning of March, we watched “Lighthouse” on FEST. It is an unusual horror film that is crowned with awards for best cinematography at the festivals in Cannes and Deauville (2019 Kan – FIPRESCI Prize, Deauville – Jury Award). This is a creepy story of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious island of New England in the late 19th century. The two (phenomenal actors Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattison) are trying to maintain sanity while living in the harsh conditions of isolation, loneliness and whimsical sea climate. The film was directed by Robert Eggers, in a curious, black and white technique, which has contributed to conjuring grim and mythical atmosphere in which the action takes place.
