Grade 6 Has a Favorite Author

After reading the book Music Seeks Ears, Grade 6 students were eagerly looking forward to meeting the author, and on Wednesday, 9th April 2025, Dejan Aleksić did not disappoint. With his humour, originality, and strong connection to childhood, he quickly won over the audience. His poetry reflects a curious spirit and a wide-eyed view of the world. The conversation with the students was spontaneous, lively, and full of spark — a joy for both the children and the author. One highlight of the event was a tongue twister contest, dubbed a “new Olympic discipline,” where the bravest and most skilful speakers performed tongue twisters in both Serbian and Russian. There wasn’t enough time for everything the students and the author wanted to share. The children’s smiles were too big for their faces, but their ears held them in place. On his way back to his hometown of Kraljevo, Aleksić said he was still basking in the joy of the encounter with our students.

The best part? They’ve already made plans to meet again — this fall, in Kraljevo, during their school trip.
