FIDE World School Chess Championship
From 19th to 29th March, the FIDE World School Chess Championship in classical chess took place in Vrnjačka Banja. A student from our school, Konstatin Krutikov, competed in the U11 category, scoring four points out of a possible nine and finishing 38th out of 56 players.
The competition was fierce, with 470 participants across six age groups representing 43 national federations.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Kazakhstani players dominated, winning four gold, three silver, and one bronze medal.
The tournament was a true test of strategy, tactics, creativity, and endurance, with some matches lasting up to three to four hours, even for the youngest players.
Serbia also had reason to celebrate, as Leonid Ivanović won silver in the younger categories, while Andrej Ljepić secured silver among the older competitors.
Other Serbian participants finished in various positions, gaining valuable international experience against strong chess schools from around the world.
The event was marked by a great atmosphere, warm hospitality, and beautiful weather, making it a memorable experience for all participants in Vrnjačka Banja.
