Exploring the World of Insects

On 21 and 28 January 2026, classes 6A and 6B visited the exhibition Through the World of Insects in Serbia II at the Gallery of the Natural History Museum in Belgrade. The exhibition was created by Aleksandar Stojanović and Miroslav Jovanović (1967–2020).

Designed to showcase the most numerous and one of the oldest groups of organisms on Earth, the exhibition aims to introduce the public to the fascinating diversity of insects found in Serbia. It highlights the essential role of insects in nature and presents key facts about them, giving visitors insight into a world largely unknown to the general public.

At the exhibition, students had the opportunity to see 2,193 meticulously prepared insect specimens displayed in 159 entomological boxes. From butterflies and beetles to industrious ants and mysterious mantises, the exhibition features a total of 2,244 insect species.

The exhibition had a highly positive impact on the students, many of whom had not realized the remarkable diversity of adaptations present within this group of organisms. Through the visit, they gained new knowledge, broadened their understanding of biological diversity, and demonstrated a strong interest and curiosity in further exploring this subject.
