A round table

On Monday, December 24th, our school held a round table with Belgrade high school students. This year we talked about the topic “The Man between nature and freedom”, and our guests were students and teachers from the Fifth, Tenth and Fourteenth Belgrade High School, as well as students from Techno Art High School.

The introductory lecture was given by the philosopher Ivan Milenkovic, who showed, through his presentation, using examples from literature and philosophy, how difficult it is to define freedom. After the lecture there was a discussion that continued during the first module when our philosophy and global politics teacher, Ivan Surlan, emphasized the importance of this topic in the context of political action. We ended the discussion in the field of ethics, where, through an example from everyday life, our teacher Nena Surlan, incited the students to debate the issue of making the right decisions in everyday situations, freedom of will and freedom of decision-making.

All the participants of the round table actively debated, exchanged great ideas with each other, but  they managed to have fun, chat and arrange their next meeting.

Exhibition – Classical and symbolic

A group of students visited the exhibition “Classical and Symbolic” at the Museum of Applied Arts.
The exhibition presented the museum collection of the rings and earrings from the ancient times to the medieval times by the author Mile Gajić, senior curator of the Museum of Applied Arts.
It contained 95 objects from the Collection of Metals and Jewelry of the Museum of Applied Arts, as well as 10 valuable items from the collection of the Historical Museum of Serbia.
The objects that will be presented at this exhibition illustrate a specific segment of our cultural heritage that testifies about the centuries-old tradition of making and wearing jewelry in this region, the interweaving of various artistic influences and their authentic merging with the time of the Serbian medieval state, when the classical and natural lived in the modern world, and symbolic was the only way of thinking and living.

Exhibition “The Heart of Darkness”

We visited the exhibition “The Heart of Darkness” by Katarina Petrović in the Art venue U10. She is an artist and a researcher who is dealing with the relations between art, science and humanities and the unusual setting made us stop and think. By creating empirical and scientific information, and guided by theintuitive insights, the artist conceives and suggests thinking about the issue of processualism, first of all in the context of the creation of meaning and form.
Following the chronology of Katarina Petrović’s thoughts, the exhibition “The Heart of Darkness” focuses on the inaccessible aspects of our reality, the beginning and the movement, the presence and the absence.
Katarina Petrović is focused on the research of the concept and the process of creation and generativity, and in her work she uses media such as text, language, sound and code. She is currently working as a researcher at the Leo Apostel Transdisciplinary Research Center in Brussels. She completed her master studies at the ArtScience Department of the Royal Conservatory and the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague, as well as her Bachelor and Master studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade.

Guest lecturer

Dr. Jugoslav Mijovic was a guest lecturer in the grade 4.

During the transdisciplinary theme “Who we are” grade 4 was working on the central idea that our knowledge about the human body enables us to take better care of ourselves. Dr. Jugoslav taught our students the organ system in an interesting way. They were talking about the components necessary for a healthy and balanced lifestyle, pyramid nutrition and the importance of being healthy.

“Kids helping kids”

A group of primary pupils “Ruđer Bošković” attended the workshop “Kids helping kids” on December 18 where they made New Year’s cards and designed scarves and hats that they would later sell during the upcoming holidays in order to collect money for the struggling children. Children from “Svratište” came and hung out with us and our students gave  New Year’s cards to them and designed a few hats and scarves for them. We enjoyed their company and the opportunity to surprise someone. Our workshop leader was our famous designer Suzana Perić.

Friendly match – football game

Our dear fifth and sixth grade primary school students visited the primary school “Miloš Crnjanski”. The school which is placed in our neighborhood was a great host, so we felt comfortable in a sporty atmosphere which was full of cheering.

Our players in the first part of the football match slightly succumbed to pressure so they did not start the game very well and the opponents scored two goals. The opponents were visibly in a mood for celebration. Very quickly the lines of our team were consolidated and we managed to turn the result into our advantage and then calmly brought the match to an end.

The result of the match was 6: 3 for the primary school “Ruđer Bošković”.

A visit to the gymnastics club “Pobednik”

G6 class students visited one nearby sports and gymnastics hall “Pobednik” where they could feel the real and unusual atmosphere in a hall which was full with the equipment for exercise. They were able to test them and share their experience with the both national and international coaches who told them how important this sport was to play while they were growing up. The pupils were proud to participate in the activities and they all went through all the exercise stations and in the end they left the gymnastics hall with an impression.
