Calligraphy

Calligraphy is the art of beautiful writing with the help of a pen, brush, felt-tip pen or other instruments. Using these tools, calligraphers carefully draw lines (strokes) that merge into letters, giving life to the art of beautiful writing. It is a combination of fine and literary arts and, in addition to looking visually beautiful and harmonious, it also sends a message. When designing, attention is paid to balance, proportions, lines and shapes, and it is often used to decorate texts. The origin of calligraphy is debated among paleographers and historians. However, it is believed that calligraphy originated among the Phoenicians around 1200 BC. After that, it was taken over by the Greeks who passed it on to the Romans.

Students had the opportunity to try out this amazing style of writing during classes. They got the chance to get creative and to try out with various brushes how to write decorative letters. The results were outstanding since it gave the students a free form to explore further in art.
