Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts
On 3rd April 2024, the second-year students visited the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) with the guidance of Nataša Vasić. We learned about the history of the building, its significant legacies, and how the Academy functions. We toured the legacies of Milutin Milanković, Marko Ristić, the library, and of Danilo Kiš.
Significant books preserved here include Vuk’s copy of the First Edition of the Serbian Dictionary, featuring Vuk’s comments for the expanded edition. Also, the copies of the French Rousseau Encyclopaedia are of exceptional value.
We sat in the ceremonial hall and watched a short film about the academician and writer Branko Ćopić. The information about the president of SASA, Zoran Knežević, also made an impression on us. He ranks among the greatest experts on small bodies in the solar system. An asteroid, 3900 Knežević, was named after him.
