J’Accuse/An Officer and a Spy

Real treat for movie lovers was the latest film of the famous director Roman Polanski (J’Accuse/An Officer and a Spy, 2019). Тhe film centers on the notorious 19th century Dreyfus affair. Captain Alfred Dreyfus, one of the few Jewish members of the French Army’s general staff, is unjustly convicted of spying for Germany in 1894. French officer Georges Picquart risks his career and his life, struggling for a decade to expose the truth and liberate the wrongly convicted Dreyfus from the dreaded Devil’s Island prison. The resulting exposure of criminal behavior implicating virtually the entire French general staff, backed by most of the political establishment, shook the French state to its foundations.

The film was shot in the French-Italian co-production, and Jean Dujardin interprets the role of an honest and truthful officer Picard.
