Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church

Grade 5 students visited the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church while doing inquiry into beliefs and values. The museum currently hosts the exhibition Eight Centuries of Art under the patronage of the Serbian Orthodox Church 1219 – 2019.

The students learned about manuscripts created by the monastic community of old Patriarchate of Peć, Visoki Dečani, Krka monastery and other holy places.

They also had the opportunity to see many old icons painted in the Middle Ages. What makes this exhibition special are Serbian early Christian crosses created from the 7th to 12th centuries which are exhibited for the first time in the museum. Among these exhibits is the cross of Emperor Dušan the Mighty, which contains fragments of the Holy Cross.
