20th Week of the Italian Language in the World
Italian Between Word and Image: Graffiti, Illustrations, Comic Books is the theme for the 20th Week of the Italian Language in the World (October 19-25, 2020). We marked it with a series of events and presentations that introduced our students to Italy, its culture, food and tradition. On Monday, brothers, Jacopo and Alexander Gregori, were guest lecturers in PYP Grade 1. They told us about their life in Italy – focusing on the similarities and the differences between the life in Italy and in Serbia. It was interesting for the young students to hear what school is like in Italy and how children spend their free time there. They also learned a few Italian words. Then, on Tuesday, October 20, Sofia Balać, a student of the 8b MYP, introduced Italian music. And on Wednesday, we had a guest from Italy – Angela Acarino, the mother of our student from Grade 1. We learned from her about family holidays that are celebrated in Italy, and we had the opportunity to taste Italian sweets. On that day, we also ate the most famous Italian food for breakfast – pizza! We have also established cooperation between all three IB Programmes: DP, MYP and PYP – high school student (3b) Dunja Bulatović held two presentations about Italy, its culture, art and fashion. At the end of her presentation, she held a knowledge quiz to check how much the students understood and learned. For each correct answer, the prize was an Italian sweet. We ended the Italian language week with a guest appearance by Marko Balać, a 6th grade student, who prepared a great presentation on sports in Italy, especially emphasizing football and the successes of Italian clubs and its national team.We would like to thank all the participants who helped us learn something new
